Story of Bir Zamanlar Cukurova (Bitter Lands) The storey begins in Istanbul in the 1970s and continues in Cukurova, Adana's rich regions (a city in the south of Turkey). Zuleyla (Hilal Altinbilek) is a lovely young woman who lives in Istanbul with her stepbrother Veli (Mustafa Acilan) and sister-in-law. She works as a tailor in a well-known Istanbul district and wishes to marry her boyfriend Yilmaz (Ugur Gunes). Yilmaz works as a mechanic and is a hard worker. He was reared by his master after his family died many years ago. Yilmaz does not live in luxury, but he will go to any length to make his lover Zuleyha happy. Zuleyla and Yilmaz are eager to marry and begin their new life together as soon as possible. But then something unexpected occurs, and they become victims of fate. Veli, Zuleyha's stepbrother, sells his sister to a criminal to pay off a gambling debt. Unaware of this, Zuleyha slips into a trap set by her own family's brutality. On the other hand, Yilmaz commits murder and assassinates the mafia boss in order to save the woman he adores.
